The USSA has developed a systematic athlete advancement plan illustrated in the Athlete Development Pipeline. Once you've started competing at the local level, you'll have an opportunity to advance up the system through participation in scored events. Who knows, someday you might even make it to the Olympics!

The U.S. Revolution Tour is the top junior event tour in the country.
The Tour brings together athletes across the country to identify the top juniors in halfpipe, slopestyle, and cross events. Athletes 13 and older compete in open class halfpipe and slopestyle events, and athletes 15 and older compete in snowboardcross and skicross open class events. The U.S. Revolution Tour is also used to qualify athletes for Junior Olympics and U.S. Freestyle Championships.

The U.S. Selection Events are held in December at the start of each season. The event is used to qualify skiers to start in NorAm competitions, qualify for the C Team of the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team, and start in U.S. World Cups. Athletes invited for moguls or dual moguls will be granted starts in both moguls and dual moguls.

The NorAm tour is conducted for the top U.S. and Canadian development skiers with additional positions for other foreign competitors. U.S. athletes are selected to compete in these events using the results from the U.S. Selection Events. The mission of the NorAm tour is to aid in the preparation of athletes for World Cup Freestyle competition through the provision of high quality training and competitive opportunities.

The Junior Nationals brings together the top junior competitors from each division. Junior National results determine who is the best overall junior competitor in each discipline: moguls, dual moguls, aerials, slopestyle, halfpipe, combined and the best competitor in each age class. A Divisions Cup is rewarded to the top overall division at the event using the FIS World Cup points system.

The U.S. Freestyle Championships is the final event of each season. This competition combines the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team and the top divisional skiers from around the country in moguls, dual moguls, aerials, and halfpipe. A Divisions Cup will be awarded to the top overall division and will include the U.S. Freestyle Ski Team members.

The FIS Freestyle World Cup represents the highest caliber of compeition in freestyle skiing; including more than 20 countries. The World Cup calendar begins in August and continues through the end of March. Top U.S. Ski Team skiers accumulate World Cup points in determining the final seasons World Cup titles and overall champion.
The Junior World Championships (JWC) may be held annually as determined by the FIS. The size of the quota will vary depending upon the event and will be determined by the FIS. These championships provide a unique opportunity for the best junior freestyle skiers in the world to compete together. JWC are important competitions in the development of future World Cup contenders.
