University of Utah Tuition Assistance


The University of Utah has extended in-state tuition for athletes who move to Utah primarily for athletic purposes. The University’s general policy for granting residency is two years, which will be waived under the USSA program. This allows athletes the in-state tuition rate beginning in your first semester of study. Who is eligible?
 

·         All current members of a 2010-11 USSA National Team.

 

·         Alumni are not eligible for this program.

 
Additional Requirements:                                                                                      
 
  • Your sport director must write a letter to the USOC (Jill Baker, Coordinator, Sport Partnerships, Jill.Baker@usoc.org, 719.866.3031) stating that you are moving to Utah primarily for training. Dates of your move, location, when you plan on attending the University of Utah, and if you will be actively competing in international competitions during the 2010 – 2011 season must all be addressed in the letter.
 
  • Athletes must be officially admitted and eligible to enroll at the University of Utah.
 
  • If you meet the criteria established by the USOC, Jill Baker will forward a letter to the University of Utah on your behalf to Su’Ann Johansen, Associate Director of Admissions, 801.581.3094.
 
  • You must fill out a residency application from the University of Utah. These are available in the admissions office or on-line at http://www.sa.utah.edu/admiss/, in the applications section, download the residency application.
 
  • Complete the Certification for Resident Exception for Tuition Purposes and select 6.2 - Participation in Olympic Athlete Training Program in Utah.
 
  • You may be required to show an in-state drivers license or bank account to be considered a resident.
