Casey Colby
Congratulations to Casey Colby for winning the 2010 USSA Nordic Domestic Coach of the Year award.
Casey Colby has put forth a tremendous effort to rebuild the NYSEF ski jumping and Nordic Combined program. This is the successful program that spawned our Olympic Champion Bill Demong and in recent years the level of participation and success had lagged. Casey’s superlative efforts have invigorated our domestic development teams as was evident when two of his skiers earned positions on the Olympic team. They include the 17 year old prodigy Peter Frenette and 21 year old Nick Alexander who are rank among our best skiers.
Within the last year, Casey has built a team of assistant coaches who have significantly increased attendance at their development camps known as “the grasshoppers” As a result of Casey's leadership, NYSEF has recently significantly increased the number of new skiers including a recent camp where 178 youths participate in a “learn how to ski jump” day. Casey’s efforts are likely to pay off as these young jumpers enter the development pipeline.
